Artist | Art Psychotherapist | Researcher | Forest Therapist

Hello, my name is Thahmina, I am a British Bangladeshi artist, art psychotherapist (HCPC, BAAT) researcher and forest therapist, living and working in Leeds, Yorkshire. I am drawn to the tender space where art meets healing.
For over twenty-five years, I have moved between studios, community halls, hospitals, and galleries, carrying stories of care, migration, and belonging. My practice interrogates the spaces between cultures, disciplines, and ways of knowing; where creativity becomes both a question and a response.
Art, for me, is a way of listening. It is how I trace the invisible threads that connect people, memories, and places. Through paint, installation, and participation, I explore how creativity can hold pain, joy, and the quiet moments in between. Each work becomes an act of remembering, a conversation between inner and outer worlds, the personal and the collective.
I have exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally, but my most meaningful work often unfolds close to home — in the shared, imperfect, healing spaces where art becomes a language of empathy and renewal. My practice continues to ask how we might see and feel differently, and how, through art, we might come home to ourselves and to each other.
I am a qualified Forest Therapist, trained with Light Box Therapy CIC.
I have exhibited internationally, nationally, and hyper-locally, and worked with organisations including: The British Council, The British Library, The Runnymede Trust, Yorkshire Sculpture International, Hospital Rooms, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and Yorkshire Contemporary - amongst many others.
I am the co-chair of Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance, and on the board of Directors for the Up Projects London.
I am a Global South Arts and Medicine Fellow and a member of the British Islamic Medical Association.
Fun fact, my favourite corner shop item is a Milkyway Crispy Roll, but second place has to go to Space Raiders Pickled Onion!
